  • Crochet: Beginner/Refresher

    Whether you are an absolute beginner or someone who once learned to crochet and have forgotten how, this class is for you! We start at the beginning, looking at tools and yarn. You will learn chain stitch, slip stitch, single, half double, and double crochet, increasing and decreasing, how to read patterns and diagrams. You will make a dishcloth, scarf, granny squares and a small stuffed animal. Required supply list: (Note: Occasionally classes are canceled due to low enrollment. Crochet hook, size H/8 (5mm) Scissors Stitch markers (not the ring-type, the type that clip closes like safety pins) A bag to carry your project material in (a shopping bag is fine) At least 2 ounces of worsted weight crochet cotton yarn (such as Sugar 'n Cream). This type of yarn has this symbol on the paper band that goes around it: You will need to purchase a couple of additional skeins of yarn and additional hooks in other sizes for projects as the class progresses, but it will be discussed in class. Stores frequently sell kits with a range of crochet hook sizes which may save you a bit on the cost of the individual hooks. If you find a kit that covers the size range from H through K, it would be a good investment.
  • Introduction to Glassblowing

    Have you ever wanted to try glassblowing, but felt intimidated? This class is great for beginners with or without any experience! You will learn safety fundamentals, tool and torch usages, solid rod welding and gathering, color application, shaping and more. You will be able to create small trinkets, marbles, paper weights, plant rods, or anything else that can be thought of with the skills learned. Parent/guardian consent form must be signed if under the age of 18 for safety reasons.
  • Rosemaling a Fjord Horse

    This class is designed for painters who have taken Beginning Rosemaling class or have experience with Rosemaling. We will discuss design concepts and do Rosemaling on a Fjord Horse shaped item such as an ornament or 3D horse. Instructor will assist painters who want to do their own design work.   • Rosemaling: Beginning

    Explore this beautiful folk art that originated in Norway. No painting experience is necessary and those who have painted before who are interested in learning or developing Rosemaling skills are welcome. Students can paint with oil or acrylic paint. The class will cover brush strokes, color mixing and how to paint a design. More experienced students can select a project of their own.   • Use Your SmartPhone to Improve Your Drawing

    Would you like to improve the quality of your pencil drawings? In this class, we work from digital photos using a smartphone app (for either Android or Apple) that helps accurately transfer the photo from your phone to your drawing surface and offers additional tools to gauge the shading level and allow you to take your drawings to the next level.
